5 Online Photo-Editing Tools to Enhance Teaching Practices

5 online photo-editing tools to enhance teacher practices

In this post, we will discuss 5 amazing online photo-editing tools that will be useful in your everyday teaching practice.  These tools will save you time, allow you to be creative, and enhance learning in your classroom.

Photofunia

Photofunia is a lot of funia!  You can add your photo into a picture in a matter of seconds.  Take a look at the example that Nick and I made. The snow-globe picture took us 19 seconds to make (yes, I timed it).  Using photofunia allows you to be creative while showing your students that you are human and that you have a playful side.  Do you want to do something special for student birthdays or perhaps a student of the month? Drop their picture into superman or superwoman and watch them smile.

Imagus (extension)

Have you ever needed to find a bunch of images for your Google Slides or PowerPoint presentation?  You go to Google Images and begin perusing the thumbnails to realize that you have to open each image that you are interested in to make sure that you are getting the image that you need.  Use the Imagus extension to enlarge thumbnails and show images/videos from links with a mouse hover.

Take Webpage Screenshots Entirely – FireShot

Sometimes I have students or teachers come up and ask “where do I go to accomplish …”  I like to use the Take Webpage Screenshots Entirely by Fireshot to answer their questions.  This extension allows you to take FULL webpage screenshots and then edit and annotate the capture.  You can capture web pages entirely to PDF (with links) / JPEG / PNG files, print, or send directly to Gmail.  Oftentimes, I could have their problem solved (using the screenshot and annotation features) and sent to their inbox before they got back to their Chromebook!!!

Canva

I know that Canva is becoming more and more known in the educational community.  If you haven’t jumped on the Canva bandwagon… grab your freemium pass because of its all aboard my friends!  The free version of Canva is sufficient for most teachers. Canva allows you to create professional designs and publish them anywhere on the web.  Canva has many templates for you to use including social media posts, brochures, business cards, posters, and much more. All of our designs on the GotTechEDwebsite have been made using Canva!

Remove Image Background

Have you ever wanted to remove the background of an image?  This could be a time-consuming process for most image editing platforms.  With Remove Image Background this process will take you about 15 seconds. The best part about this is… it is FREE!!!  Nick and I have never been to Hawaii until about 15 seconds ago (see picture above). With the weather in the Northeast, this is wishful thinking!
