5 Time-Saving Chrome Extensions that ALL Teachers Should Have

5 time-saving chrome extensions that all teachers should have

Time is the limiting reagent in a teacher’s day.  Teachers need more time! Time to grade, lesson plan, and make copies.  The following Google Extensions will help teachers organize their projects, passwords, and resources in order to free up some time out of your daily schedule!

OneTab

One Tab

One Tab is my absolute favorite extension of all time!  Picture yourself working on a project with a dozen or more tabs open.  The bell rings and you need to stop working on the project to go teach.  Do you close the browser and find the resources again later? Do you bookmark each of the resources? No fear, One Tab is here.  One Tab is an extension that allows you to condense all your tabs into one hyperlinked list. If that isn’t cool enough, you can also give the list a name and save the list for future use.  Lastly, you can share the list with others using a link! That’s right teacher, you can curate resources and share a link with your students. Can we say game-changer?

Pablo

pablo

Have you ever been in a colleagues classroom and they have posters on the wall and beautiful bulletin boards.  No worries, with Pablo you can put pictures with over-laying quotes on them in under 30 seconds. Using Pablo is simple.  Highlight text on any page and then right click to see an option for opening that text in Pablo for creating beautiful images. Right click on any image that you come across and you will see an option to open the image in Pablo for editing.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar

Are you an administrator, tech coach, or educator that uses Google Calendar daily?  The Google Calendar extension allows you to add events and check upcoming events right from your browser toolbar.

Print Friendly PDF

Quizizz

Print Friendly and PDF allows you to save paper and ink when you print.  Print Friendly removes ads, navigation and junk before your print. Pages are optimized for the ultimate printing and reading experience.  Just click-to-delete any content before printing. You can remove unwanted images, change the text size from larger to smaller, and save the content as a PDF.

LastPass

Last Pass

How many times have you gone to a website and tried to logging in to find out that you forgot your username or password?  This happened to me a lot, so I added the LastPass Extension. LastPass requires you to only remember one password- your LastPass Master Password.  Enter your Master Password and LastPass will automatically log-in to your sites and sync your passwords everywhere you need them.

BONUS Extension: Extensity

Extensity

We at GotTechED would be doing you a disservice if we gave you a handful of extensions without giving you a way to manage them.  To avoid being accused of reckless abandonment we bring you Extensity. Extensity allows you to quickly enable/disable Google Chrome extensions. Just enable the extension when you want to use it, and disable when you want to get rid of it for a little while. You can also launch Chrome Apps right from the list.

Do you want to get a more in-depth look at these extensions?  Click on the links below to listen to the podcast that discusses each one!
